To what extent may I work on my own case?
We encourage our clients to work on their own matter as much as they wish. We provide our client library for that specific purpose. We feel that there are numerous benefits of clients working on their own matter: feeling of greater control over the process; greater appreciation of the opportunities and risks of the dispute; better, more contemporaneous information provided to us; and saving of fees. Some clients are more capable and willing to work on their own matter than others. If you would like to explore this more, let us know.

What if I have an emergency in the evening or on the weekend?
If you believe that you or you children are in danger for any reason, do the following: 1)remove yourself and/or your children from the danger; 2) call 911 and report the circumstances; 3) cooperate fully with the police or other authorities-don't let anyone talk you out of pursuing your complaint; and 4) call us when we return to the office. Our experience tells us that there is little we can do for our clients during after hour periods. The police will take care of any dangerous situation. Anything requiring court intervention must wait until the courts are open during a normal work day.

Who should I ask for when I call the office?
We make every effort to save you money by moving appropriate activities down to the person with the lowest hourly rate who is working on your matter. You can help us do this by addressing most of your questions or concerns to the lowest billable person. If he or she cannot handle the concern, they will refer you to the appropriate person.

What is the best way to communicate with you?
You should have the email address of each of us, and you have access to our voice mail 24 hours a day by calling our main number. We encourage you to use whichever method works best for you. However, we prefer email, fax, or written correspondence, as it provides a better record of our communications. If you have an urgent need to communicate with us, do not use voice mail or email. Notify the receptionist that your message is urgent and she will make sure we get the message at the earliest possible time. Normally, we will not respond to voice mails at night or on weekends.
